The Winsure executive team draws on both global experience including senior underwriting and risk management roles in international markets and on the local expertise our team has from working in and with the Australian insurance market.
Our global experience has brought us a wealth of underwriting knowledge and expertise and we are happy to be able to share this with our broker clients. Importantly, this experience allows us to appreciate that Australian brokers’ product needs, and those of their customers, require individual and specialist consideration.

Alex Shead - Chairman
Alex has over 28 years of Australian and UK insurance experience.
Prior to relocating to Australia, Alex was the co-founder and CEO of Stuart Alexander an insurance and risk management business in the UK. Within 10 years of operation it became a Top 10 insurance intermediary winning several industry awards and employing in excess of 120 staff. The company was ultimately acquired by AXA UK.
Alex started his insurance career with Willis Faber in London and is the third generation of his family to be involved with Lloyd’s. His grandfather founded two Lloyds syndicates, including Shead Motor Policies, in 1923 and his father floated Halford Shead, a broking and underwriting Group, on the London Stock Exchange in 1972.
Alex is the founding CEO of Fair Business, a non profit organisation that aims to tackle the serious problem of long-term unemployment and exclusion from the labour market in Australia.
Matthew Boon – Managing Director
Matthew has over 15 years insurance experience holding various roles within the industry.
Prior to joining the Winsure Insurance Group in July 2007 Matthew built an extensive technical insurance knowledge whilst holding various Engineering and Construction underwriting and management roles within leading Australian insurers specialising in this field with an expertise in the more technical hard to place risks.
Matthew’s previous role as NSW Engineering Manager for Lumley General Insurance allowed him to develop that portfolio and the team into a market leading insurer known for their expertise and service. Apart from the technical nature of this role Matthew was also a member of the NSW management team for 8 years which provided a solid grounding in the management aspects of the industry.
Matthew has successfully managed his portfolios through all the challenging cycles of the insurance industry over the past 15 years which has provided him with a solid grounding in understanding the intricacies of the industry.
Shona Chambers – Casualty, PI & PA Underwriter
Shona has over 25 years in the insurance industry. Principally in underwriting roles focusing on Retail and Liability product lines. Her current role allows her to utilise her wealth of industry knowledge and high service levels.
Faaizah Banu – Property Underwriter
Faaizah is Winsure’s Property Underwriter and has almost a decade’s insurance experience in a number of roles, principally within the Promina Group & CGU in both underwriting and claims. Her most recent role was as a SME commercial underwriter servicing the broker market.
Her level of underwriting expertise and high service ethic will be pivotal in maintaining existing broker relationships and developing new markets, again with an SME and commercial business focus.
